After noon hunt.
« on: October 13, 2013, 01:15:00 AM »
Got up this morning to go calling. Went to feed the dog before I left . He came walking up to me kinda slow, I said ruff night last night. He said yes that darn squeeky toy and my chew bucket Kept me up all night.  He then ask if I was going hunting ? I said yes in just a few minutes. He replied waist of time ,wait a little while . Are you sure ?. He said yes trust me.. About 9:00 He starts running along the fence with his bucket, makes all kinds of racket. Went out there to say what's up ? He said its time to go . 45 minutes later on my first stand . Had one come in but locked up way out there. 250 +-yrds out.  Couple more stands and no takers . Was in a older apricot orchard  doing the rabbit death stuff. Got a cramp in my leg and had to move Got on my hands and knees and started to stretch my leg looked up and there was one 15 yards in front of me trying to figure out what I am. Still on my knees bow in one hand and arrow in the other. He then starts to walk off I raise  up a little and try a shot still hunched over and the bow horizontal. Arrow goes over its back and its gone . Two more stands . I'm in another apricot orchard smaller trees and real weedy. Doing some more rabbit stuff. Turn my head a little and theres one right to my left and he does not see me .Have no idea how It got there never seen it come in. It turns and gives me a shot . It spins and tries to run dragging on leg goes ten yards and drops.  Another big mail with battle scars. arrow took out both shoulders

If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

Been trying something this year. Put them over soft soil so what ever takes them will leave tracks . Gives me an idea if they are using a spot and when.

Seeing this post kind of makes me regret even more letting that coyote pass yesterday morning. Too bad I couldn't quite tell they were mule deer that were behind him at the time since I don't want to tag a doe with my either sex tag. Great shooting love seeing your posts

TD,
You are an absolute yote nightmare! I don't know if the California coyotes or politicians are thicker, lol.  Do you use electronic or mouth blown calls? Predator hunting is something I've always wanted to try to remedy the "cabin fever" in Jan-Feb. Can I borrow your dog?  Mine just eats, sleeps, and farts!

OK, Tim, you did... fine...

But your dog certainly has my respect by now!!!  Hope HE got a hotdog, too.  Good boy!
