Interesting morning
« on: October 13, 2013, 08:24:00 PM »
Today, I finally got to hunt a stand that I recently relocated and had not hunted this season. Shortly after daylight two small bucks cruised through. One was a  forkhorn, and the other was a small 6 pointer. It appeared that these were the first "real" racks that either little buck has produced. At one point, it looked like I might get to see my first live fight between deer, but at the last moment the little forkhorn backed off. The 6 pointer was really full of piss and vinegar when that happened, strutting around and showing off a bit.

They worked past my stand at about 10 yards and offered several easy shot opportunities, but I held off. I prefer to let them grow some more before they are ready for prime time hunting. This was really a pleasant morning in the woods. Leaves are dropping, and it was very cool and comfortable. Seeing the little bucks up close without them having a clue that I was close by really made it fun and interesting. Man, I love autumn.

Cool. Always fun to just sit and watch. That's why you should bring a camera too for this opportunities

Cool! I love the feeling that I get when I know they are there but they have no clue I am there!
