Shooting with a heavy coat on .

Whats your trick to be able to shoot with a heavy coat on ? A light weight coat is no problem with an arm guard but when the weather is colder and you need to were a heavy coat I cant seem to get the bulky sleeve out of the way .

I hate shooting with a heavy coat. That's why I own two heater body suits. It better for to make the shot and not worry about an obstruction.

I use two arm guards. I put one down where they normally go,and then one up around my bicep.

Try some of that athletic tape that sticks back to itself. The stuff they use when you give blood. It doesn't have any adhesive on it. seems you could wrap your sleeve up tight.

You can use a regular arm guard and get your wife to make up a couple of elastic bands to put around your upper arm material.

I bought one of those super long arm guards that is jointed in the middle just for shooting with a coat on. Works great for me.

I don't wear a heavy coat. I just use layers.
2 thermal shirts, a heavy wool shirt and a wool vest keeps me warm in sub zero temps in northern mi

Arm guards can help a ton.
Sometimes a coat is still too bulky though...went through that myself. Used to use a heavy carhardt coat with my compound.
After switching to trad I found out it just wouldn't cut it.

So I rethought my whole cold weather gear process.
Ended up with a few layers ( up to 5 at times) of really quite thin layers. Some are spandex/underarmor like layers.

I ended up with just as good if not better warmth with about half the bulk.

BTW..it doesn't have to be expensive..look around for deals or off brand stuff.

Only thing I'd add is I noticed some of the off brand "underarmor" can hold body odor pretty well. ie still smell after washing..

I'm starting to switch to multi layers of used merino wool from the auction site and good will....thin sweaters and such.

I never wear a heavy coat! I layer up with tight fitting stuff like under armor cold gear. I also have quite a few shirts and upper body garments that are missing the left sleeve to keep the bulk down on my bow arm! I hunt in south TX so I rarely see temps much lower than 40 degrees.

I layer my cold weather clothing and wear a heavy wool vest and an arm guard. Also, I have used my wifes nylons...

Besides an armgard I use a series of elastic  bands around my upper arm. And most Importantly I use a long elastic band that goes under my left arm and over my right shoulder, this is the one that really keeps the pucker in my heavy jacket out of the way.  I must be a lightweight I always end up in my heavy jacket over 3 or 4 other layers during november hunts. I use 3/4 inch elastic and just tie a knot at the right size

Practice with the coat on before you hunt with it , or any equipment that is critical. I use the stretchy cord from an old fleece jacket for my ghillie suit sleeve

I built myself an extra long arm guard that also covers most of the upper arm.  I also open my stance a little, i.e., turn a little more into the target, which gives more bow arm string clearance.

No heavy coat,  This is why I like vests... no sleeves to get in the way, with a lighter coat over it, or, better yet, I like to wear my heavier vest over the "coat" (been wearing a longer than normal Asbel pull over) and a lighter vest under the coat.

My arms don't tend to get cold as quickly as other parts do.

My heavy camo coat made by Skyline has drawstrings in the sleeves that are used to snug them up...seems to work great...where I live we hunt in some pretty cold weather

As soon as it starts getting REALLY COLD, I always wear a big heavy wool coat!!!!!

I never have had a problem &  have NEVER used an armguard.

However, I shoot with a more open stance than most folks do. Perhaps that's why???

While i don't wear a heavy coat, sometimes my layers get bulky. I use parachute cord to wrap down my bow arm. Work great.
