Hey all,
I am down here in Texas so I don't have to deal with cold or wet conditions much. So I thought about what shoes or boots would make good stalking and hunting shoes. Somewhere I read that there were some bowhunters that use Converse Chuck Taylor Hi Tops. I thought that might be a good idea and went to check them out on their website. It turns out that they have another option other than the traditional Hi Tops. They have whats called the X-Hi Tops. They are exactly like the regular Hi Tops except these are probably equal in height to an 8 or 10 inch boot would be.
The actually look like they would work pretty well. You can customize them on their site and get them in 3 weeks and they are $70. I tried it out and designed a pair in ALL BLACK and they didn't look too bad. It seems like they would be a perfect shoe for stalking on soft earth. The sole is all rubber and the uppers are thick canvas which I would assume that you could make them waterproof if you wanted to.
Anyone ever tried these shoes, the regular Hi Tops or the X-Tra Hi Tops for stalking and hunting or heard about them being used? I'd like to hear your thoughts and opinions if you know anything about these.
Go to Converse.com and click on MEN and then SHOES. Just keep looking by selecting VIEW MORE several times until you get to a plain WHITE pair that is really HIGH and then click on them to see what they would look like in your custom setup.
What do you think? How would they work for hunting in soft, sandy type soils like here in Texas and the other southern states?
