Last weekend I scouted a piece of woods near my house. On the east side are three big fields, with one hidden from the road. I entered the woods from a road on the south, and ended up about 250 yards behind the hidden field, where I found a grove of about ten white oaks loaded with acorns that just happen to be in the natural travel path of deer going to and leaving the fields. Today, despite the rain, I went back to hang a trail camera and to cut a trail from the stand site I had picked.......I started cutting the trail from the tree I had picked and had gotten about thirty yards when I almost stepped on this.........
Now, for those who routinely find sheds, that is not the case here in the northeast, this is only the fourth I have found in 40 years of hunting. This is a good buck in my area, my confidence in this spot went up a lot this morning.....
Oh yeah, the base on this antler is over 4 1/4"....
