measureing bowstring

How do you measure a bowstring from tip to tip of loop from the middle of the loop or the inside of loop?

Typically, the string is measured at full length outside to outside of the loops around 1/4" dowels, as I understand it.

Depends on where you are getting one from, but the "proper" way is like SS said, but under tension.  50# of tension for dacron strings 10 strands or less, all others under 100# of tension.
