Ground harvests?

I was looking at purchasing the ground blind seat from Big Jim's Bow Company, a sponsor on here, but they were out of it so I sent the picture to my father-in-law and he welded me up a frame.

Mine is probably three times as heavy as the ones you can purchase but I have no fear that it'll collapse as it is made from some heavy duty steel!

I'll try to get a picture of mine in the next couple of days.

I have the Hunterseat pictured above. It works great but I replaced the thin foam pad with something thicker and bigger to accomidate an adult size butt.

Last week I used my seat then stood behind a big tree when the deer showed up. I shot a button buck with my Abbott longbow at 15yd when it walked by.

I typically use natural set ups, sometimes leaning sticks and limbs against trees to add cover.

shot these bears a week apart, one at 10 yds and one at 12, both were walking trails and I was able to cut them off. I always hunt bear on the ground, you can get by with a lot more than you can with deer.

5 of the last 7 deer I have killed have been from the ground. I use blinds and natural cover....depends on the situation and cover. I got a button buck day two this year at about 8 yards. I have no pic as I was alone and sliced my finger dressing the deer out so I had to deal with my own blood flow. Fortunately I had used the canoe getting to my stand location so getting out and stopping the bleeding was pretty easy since I didn't have to drag it the mile or so to my truck.

I pretty much have stayed on terra firma for the past several seasons, and have had pretty good success. So far this year, just a turkey, but I have taken 6 whitetails from the ground in the past 3 years, and hope to have a repeat performance or two this year.

No harvest but I had an interesting encounter at under 20 yards today while still hunting for mule deer does...it was with a young whitetail buck that was working his scrape line...I tried a few snort wheezes on him but apparently I did not look enough like another whitetail buck for him to come pick a fight...finally I decided I had better chase him away so he did not run off upwind and spook any mule deer that way...he headed off downwind from me and remarkably I saw him again a few minutes later on the trail I had just worked my way along carrying on with the business at hand

The longer I hunt, the more hours I spend afield, I am starting to believe that the ground is the most logical way to go.
