Best lightweight Windproof Jacket/Pants
« on: October 28, 2013, 08:35:00 PM »
I have worn my KOM for over 20 years! I got razed when I bought it, but has it ever done the job and by far the cheapest investment over time and I love it. But at 60 this cold Montana Wind is doing me in. I want to pick up some real lightweight outer Windproof garments I can roll up in my pack. So what do you guys wear that is real lightweight and compact, and price wise the best out there. Thankyou, Pete

I've used a Gore-tex rain suit over my woolies or over fleece depending on the weather with good success plus it sheds rain and is breathable too. And it lasts. I bought that 10x suit at the end of the 80's and I still use it. They are not that compact though. But you might find something better these days with all the tech advances they have made.

I have a super lite gore-tex bicycle jacket.
Lite enough to wear under my KOM for a windbreak.
It is made by Pearl Izumi. Packs down about the size of a soup can.
