Help me I.d. These two bows
« on: November 02, 2013, 05:30:00 PM »
At a yard sale and bought a groves spitfire# r-458-b . Also bought a bear Tamerlane# 24bw5. They are both target bows but I couldn't help my self for 72$ I bought both bows and a box of around 30 arrows that are matched to the bows. Including 5 or 6 nice doodles from complete with attached bear greenies. Not worried about resale or anything. I bought them for the history and hopefully just to shoot at the range. Funny around these parts you can't buy a recurve or even a broad head over 125 grains. But  within walking distance I bought all this plus he said he would try to find more of this stuff and I told him I would buy it all. He's in his late 70's and they were his and his dads bows. He was a competitive target shooter. Mostly with rifles but he had a ton of patches and trophies from 38 years competing with guns and bows. He loved the fact that I shoot a recurve and my son shoots a longbow. I plan on restoring them back to the way he had them and letting him see them. I think he'd get a kick out of it. Any way I'm rambling have a good day.

Sometimes things fall into place. Good to hear they'll be in good hands.

Post up some pics when you can.

Yes it's dyna stressed I guess I labeled my post wrong I really need them dated . I know they are from sometime in the 60's. But they are in really good shape. The only downside is they are only in the mid thirties in poundage and at my 26" draw not legal to hunt deer with but I still can't wait to string them up.
