barronett grounder 350 who uses them? Other blind advice welcome as well.

Anybody use the barronett 350 grounder with 62-64" longbow? Any clearance issues? Advice is welcomed. Thanks!

I've used one for the past two seasons and I like it a lot but you do have to make sure you're standing to the rear, even with a 64 depending on your height. I have a slight cant so I get away with 66". My only complaint? The height in the center is great but the placement of the windows causes a problem. I wish the bottoms of the windows were either a little lower or they'd install some verticals. I use a tall chair in mine so that I can shoot semi-standing....

We have 5 of them, no problems shooting up to a 72" hill bow out of them. Some guys wine the windows are to tall I can shoot standing or dig the dirt down about 3" on the front corners and its perfect for shooting out of any chair.

I have one blind that's been out over a year partially under a ceder tree and no fading of any kind . There great blinds and very cheap priced I've yet to spend over $130 for one. Here's the one that's been out since last September!

 

Killed several turkeys and deer out of it.

Yeah I'd have to agree with this. My other complaint is the window zippers should be two way so you can unzip from bottom up instead of top down.

I have one and you really have set it up with your shooting lanes in mind. Typically, I  won't have a 360 deg circle around the blind I can shoot.

Serious cant on most shots and some you may need to draw paralell to the ground.

I gave an honest review based on two years of hunting from the Barronnett and got called a whiner even though following posters agreed with me. When you objected I deleted the post.


Had you deleted both of our posts or given him the same admonishment...no harm, no foul. That didn't happen, apparently favoritism is alive and well here on TradGang. I'd heard as much. I'm out.

I bought a big mike and had to open the bottom windows to shoot from. It is not as user friendly as my double bull recurve model  but it has more room and big price difference. The jury is still out for me.  I have broke the poles on my double bull three times. I also have a hidden hunter that I use for turkey season because it is so easy to set up.

Been out hunting all morning and didn't mean to ruffle any feathers. Don't need to dig a trench just a couple inches each corner if you think you need it personally I don't do it and leave them alone. Lots of tradgangers have hunted and shot turkeys and deer out of my blinds and all that have been in the 350's really liked them.

There not permanent blinds we move them as needed, The one blind that has been there for so long because I had a bad accident  late winter on some ice last year and ended up having three brain surgerys.  Hunting was put on hold this spring and we never went and got it but my sickness continued into this fall as my family has taken the time to take care of me. It has been a long journey but getting better, I am stuck in my blinds right now for bow hunting and promised my wife and kids I would keep my feet on the ground for this season.

Back to the blinds, I do wish the window zippers were two way also but that is my only complaint. I sat in one this morning on a normal folding chair not dug in but very slightly down hill and had deer at 12 yds and was thinking about this thread. Not only was I clear as always for a nice shot but I could also clearly see clean down to below there knees on all deer. I got off my chair and got down on one knee and still had a clean shot of the vitals clearly. Ryan Steadman has videoed me doing this before when he was here hunting.

The Huntmore chairs work well in my 2 year old 350.
Haven't hunted out of ant other blind, but have test driven the ones set up at Cabela's, Bass Pro & Gander Mountain, albeit with the chairs or stools at the stores.
I bought the 350 after all the other test drives.

I got a big Mike snake eye and love it.i am getting another for sure and maybe 2. I can shot a turkey at spitting distance with the snake eye windows when they get around the decoy.   I may get a taller seat so i can shoot out of the side wall windows better for a wider field of fire but you can cover a decent area out of a pair of snake eye corner windows.

I know that Tracy has had good luck with the 350, and you can't deny that. I have know him through this site for a few years and I value his opinion.

However, I bought two grounder 350 blinds and they both were junk. both of them broke either rods or hubs the first time I set them up. I received replacement parts a total of 4 times, I finally gave up and returned them. I may have gotten two lemons, but I would not by a third to find out.

I do however, have a snake eyes 375, from them that is a great blind. I also have a double bull recurve and a Primos vision, that have been good blinds as well.

A blind is a great hunting tool, Good luck!

Tall windows have always been my complaint for many blinds as well. Weight is a big issue for me as well and I found the Double Bull and Primos blinds to be too heavy. I rarely use a blind anyway so I picked up an ultra cheap True Timber V1 blind for $69 on sale. The corner windows dip lower than the rest of the windows. I do not normally buy cheap stuff but in this application it fits the bill.

Here's a view from the front of my 350, while sitting in the large Huntmore, legs extended to full. BTW, my 17 yo daughter and 2 backpacks were also inside w/o any crowding. I'm 6'1, and she's 5'10.
She shot her 1st deer under the overhanging limb to the right at 12 yds about 3 hours after this photo was taken. No clearance problems while using her Dorado.
