actually sharpening a single bevel is a lot easier, and I can get it a lot sharper than the standard twin beveled head....and what else do you have to do thats so pressing in the off season anyway when its too hot to go outside where we live at least?

If tinkering with my archery equipment gives me pleasure, that's a whole lot better way to spend my time than yard work, drinking in a bar, or watching JUNK on TV as Jeff said.

Ray - I was speaking entirely for me and did not mean that others should not do as they please.

I don't drink and hardly ever watch tv - spend too much time mowing the lawn imo  ;)

no offense felt on my end, Steve....just thinking to myself out loud that when I can't hunt, or practice to hunt...that I just like fooling with my equipment, you know? It's what I live to do- hunt...but when I cannot be out doing it then I like to mess with my stuff and think about being out doing it, ya know?

Only mowed half the lawn to go scouting today - know what you mean.

Nothing puts the skids to an entertaining discussion like a good dose of common sense.

hey, I resemble that remark, I think.

If you saw me standing next to the Bigster, though, you'd think he was my uncle though, Curtis...I'm big, but he's got me by a little.

It's the mayo, I think.

Curtis, when Ray and I rode to Maine together last year for bear, HIS side of the truck rode lower than MY side...

I will tell a funny story. That aint true about the truck, by the way. You'd have to weigh nearly a thousand pounds to make that bad boy dodge lean over...heck,it didnt lean on Biggie's side!!!!

I went to a shoot down near Macon, GA a few years ago...Leon Scott, someone I cannot remember for certain, and a fellow named Allen. Allen is a world-class self bowyer, by the way, a rare document conserver, and a runner of great stamina. At that time he trained for marathons..I believe, and he told me he ran an average of about 35 miles a week at least while holding down a full time job and having two young boys at home.

Anyway, Allen, Leon, the third gentleman, and I were all headed back to Atlanta and felt very hungry, so we decided to get some late lunch before heading our separate ways.

Allen offers that Sonny's BBQ in Stone Mountain was close, and had an all you can eat rib deal on Saturday. So we went.

We all ordered ribs....and Leon, the third fellow and I got done about 30 minutes later.Well, Allen kept eating. And eating. And eating, an hour went by and he was still going. The manager came over, looked at the pile of bones on the table in front of Allen (which we could not see Allen over by this time) and he grabbed our check and said " boys, we preciate your business and all, but I'm ona take care of this here check and ya'll make your way out the door, OK?"

I don't know where Allen put it..he might have weighed 160...and was around 6 feet tall....I was kind of embarrassed I couldn't out-eat the little feller!!!!!!!!!!!!!
