You were blessed in more ways than one, take advantage of it. I'm glad she is ok. I think we as parents have a switch that won't let us fathom those thoughts of something happening to our children. If I sat around and could even think about it- I couldn't handle life on a daily basis. 2 girls, 11 and 13, one son 9.
My niece was in a horrible car accident this spring and just returned home this weekend. She barely survived the accident and following head operations. She is learning how to talk again and going through multiple therapy sessions. She is 11, and we continue to hope and pray for her to recover enough to have a somewhat normal life. One day she is playing softball, riding bikes and the next... her life was turned inside out.
I spent Saturday coaching my 9 year old sons football team to victory in the first game of the year. Then we set up a treestand in the woods next to the house and shot bows for a few hours with my nephew. About an hour before dark, he and I went out and sat in a field next to a haybale watching an oak ridge from about 70 yards. Saw 16 deer, and one decent buck. On the ride home, he tells me it was one of his best days ever, and can we do it again next Saturday....I replied- as long as Mom lets us!
