Parade of little guys
« on: November 13, 2013, 11:20:00 AM »
I have been hunting a specific deer, which is like playing a shell game; now you see him, now you don't. This morning, I went to an area where I have seen him on a couple of occasions, got in well before daylight, and just as I could make out shapes, started to rattle. Not two minutes later, I had a spike and a small 4x4 respond, both of who hung out at 10 to 15 yards for over 5 minutes. A short while later, a buck which has to be the son of the deer I am hunting came in; his antlers are a similar configuration, but he is just a 2 year old. Had him at 5 yards before he saw the Boogie Man. I had a doe that I thought was going to step on me, but she changed directions at about 3 paces, and never did see or wind me. I was in some tall grass in a ditch, and the Asbell wool seems to be working pretty well as a camo pattern.

Of course, the buck I am hunting didn't show, but it looks like the plan is working as far as getting deer to come in. Now, if he will only cooperate, I would be forever grateful to him.

Maybe next time!

Keep after him Pat, he's a handsome buck with classic Dakota whitetail looks. Your lucky to be able to get out there still.
My bow only season ended for me today, plenty of action this year but I haven't sealed the deal yet.

He might be in trouble in a few days, but I'm holding out right now.

Pretty cool to have them that close.....keep at it!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki
