I not sure which way he was standing when you shot him?? You indicate not a gut shot and since the deer did not bed right away I would agree. With White hair, I would say you hit him low in the chest area.My guess would be a severe flesh wound that would result in a loss of alot of blood but not an immediate kill. He might die of infection or he might make it. I would check any thick areas of cover and any water places. Normally a deer hurt bad with take the easiest path and not go up hill, across ditches or ravines. Good luck!
