thanks tom and bigb, I agree tom, that it is about how close, that is one reason I bow hunt...one of the many. I do love getting close and the challenge of hunting with trad gear will only make me up my game, and be better at all aspects of bowhunting...and after all, who does not want to continue to get better, right?! my initial worries of what if that big boy comes in out of range is kinda silly if you think about it, because with a bow, any bow...you have to get somewhat close, and with a rifle...if you see it, you can kill it(within a matter of speaking). I think I will really have a lot of fun, and if all traditional guys are like everyone I have ran into on here, then there is no way this isn't a win/win. comeradery is one of the best things there is about being a bowhunter anyways, I think. not much you can do with your clothes on that is more fun than a day on the 3d range or field stump shooting with your buddies.
bigb, I know what your saying, I already have one of the compounds up for sale or trade, and I have over 1600 in that rig, not to mention the released, case, and all the other stuff...and it will make some of the guys happy that I am switching over, because I really razz the guys that have the 2500 dollar target rigs when I outshoot them with my 32 in ata hunting rig! they hate it sometimes, even know it is all in good fun and they are quick to jab me when they get the chance! now I just have to get good enough with my Tall Tines to out shoot them...wouldn't that be a quick kick in the jibs! lol.

Welcome to the tradgang family!!

After reading every post on your thread I think we are blessed to have you join with us in our "love" of bow hunting and all that goes along with it.

It is this "journey" and how we travel that helps us learn about ourselves and what we are really made of along with stuff about bows, arrows, and hunting with them.

Thanks for opening up so we get a chance to learn about and from you.

I only wish some of the folks that come here frequently  but seldom if ever post anything would say more so we could get to know them as well

Again, Welcome!! ... and thank you!

God bless,Mudd

To me it is not about" how far" but " how close".  Since I made the switch in 1985, for every chance I have had to pass on deer too far, I have had equal chances at deer that were moving and, or, in thick cover that I would not have been able to take with a wheel bow. I think it balances out. The quickness and pointability of a stick bow can become an advantage in many situations.
Welcome and good luck.
Tom

I am just not used to everyone being so honest, respectful, and helpful...I used to be part of a big 'modern' forum, but it seemed like it was always a competition to puff their chests out and knock someone down for what brand of bow they shoot....here it is TOTALLY opposite and that is a welcome change for me, thank you all very much!
