TN folks, need some advice.
« on: November 18, 2013, 11:59:00 AM »
In January sometime ill be headed to TN for a short vacation with my girlfriend. She graduates nursing school in a couple months and is thinking of moving there. I am pretty stoked about the idea.

So other then I want to see the mountains and woods, any chance there is some trad shops along the way coming from FL? Or any "must see" places? Lol my goal is for her to be sold on moving, because that opens a new realm in my life for hunting!   :archer:

The mountains and the woods are incredible. Cade's cove is a nice place to visit, no hunting but you will see lots of deer, bears, and turkeys.Where in Tennessee are y'all looking to move to? Not sure about on the way but there are a few good trad clubs here. You have to visit Nashville, it's great. Aside from that there are deer and turkeys everywhere and your license includes a bear tag if you ever want to go out east and try for them. We also have elk in the North Cumberland WMA just north of Knoxville. Nearly impossible to draw a tag but they are really cool to just go watch. The best deer hunting in the state is in middle tennessee by far!
There is a place for all God's creatures....right next to the potatoes and gravy.

If you're looking for big mountains looking into heading up to the Cherokee national Forrest. There's bear, deer, hogs on certain hunts, turkey during the spring and good trout fishing all over that part. Middle Tennessee has a bunch good wma's for deer and turkey hunting. If you want to look around some of eastern Tennessee feel free to pm me. I'm sure some of the other Tennessee guys will chime in here.

I hunt in Dover, Tennessee.  It is just a little northwest of Nashville.  Paradise!!!!  Land between the lakes, and cross creeks wildlife refuge are both huge and full of deer and turkey.  They are both bowhunting only accept for a few draw hunts a year.  I would encourage anyone to hunt that area.

I second checking out cades cove! bear , elk , and 140inch bucks just walking around! Not many trad shops up my way, but beautiful woods, rivers, waterfalls, and view. Let me know if you make it up east tn way and I can tell you of some places to visit.

Oh man! Thanks guys! I actually will be heading through the east(ern) side.

As for what part we would be moving, I'm not too sure.

She drove through when going to KY for a nursing convention and told me how much she loved it. Which is great! lol, ever since we started dating 8 years ago I always told her when we had our careers on track I wanted to move north and somewhere close to the mountains.

So possibly a chance it may happen next year sometime, she graduates the first week of April.

oh, also what kind of weather can I expect during the month of January?

Thanks a ton guys, if anyone wanted to hook up and shoot a course, or just stump shoot thats a possibility as well!
