Big Horn Ramhunter Longbows

I had one for several years.  They are smooth and shoot good.  Maybe not the fastest longbow out there.  I like the way the limbs were trapped to the belly.  They can be picked up very reasonably priced since they are out of business.  I would buy one again for the right price.

I have one that was made back when Asbell owned the company. Had it custom made for me and shot it for many years.  Good bow, but only ever shot it OK.  Have owned other LB since and found that I shoot them better, just one of those things.

I currently own one that was made with a cool, wrinkly green color on the entire bow except the riser which is beautiful with horn tips.  It's 70@27 and shoots beautifully with cedars or heavy hickory arrows.  I agree it isn't the fastest bow but is shock free and dead quiet.  The deer I've killed with it never knew what hit them.

I had one ~50lb@28 - got it when I first re-started shooting - geez, maybe 15 yrs ago - sold it to a local guy (Chesterfield, VA).  I wish I could get it back!  It shot much better than I did.  Seemed slower than the Big Horn recurve I later got, and probably as smooth, tho'.  Again, I wish I could get it back to compare to my HHA bows.

Killed my biggest buck with a Asbell era Ramhunter. Gave it to my son-in-law to get him started in trad. He won't give it back.

Keep thinking I'll pick up another someday. Would love to find a 64" around 50 lbs.

I own a couple of Ramhunters, great bows with classic lines, for me they shoot well.
 Maybe not the fastest Longbow I have shot but they work for me.

Thanks for all the info, been wanting to try a D style longbow for a while. At least I think it is a d style, maybe a mild r/d. Anyway I like the looks of it.

Still shooting older mild r/d longbows and the Ramhunter is my go to bow.

Great longbow.  Very stable.  It has a larger handle than most being made today which you either like or don't like.  I prefer that so it works well for me.   Silent, accurate, rugged, dependable, and attractive, what more can you ask for in a bow.
