3 blade heads / whistling
« on: September 12, 2007, 12:54:00 AM »
Hi guys.  Having trouble with my snuffers. They make a light whistleing sound when shot. I have bare shaft tuned as well as I think can be done and hitting good, no great.. What could be the culprit?

I listend to a fried shoot the snuffer and it had a whisltly type breeze with it also.  Is this just a commonality with snuffers??? Many thanks to you all in advance...
Blessings,
Steve

Smear a very thin coat of vaseline or first aide ointment on the blades making sure that you do get some onto the edges of the vents. You need very little...it has always worked for me.

What are you shooting them on. I used my first set of glue on adapters the other day with some 4 blade zwickeys and they whistled. I filled it with some duco and it stoped

Yes, it's common. Just go ahead and shoot them. It hasn't stopped mine from hitting a deer yet. The sound is mainly audible from behind and from the side anyway. Vaseline doesn't hurt. Keeps the blades lubed and rust free anyway!

Clean-up the vents with a nail file.

If you're bow is quiet the deer will never hear the whistling. I'm not saying not to do what others have said. It's just that my Father called it the Whistle of Death.

guess all above is correct.  though I did touch up the inside rear-edge of the vents on my WWs with a chainsaw file to round them over a bit.
