New trad program.
« on: December 17, 2013, 01:26:00 PM »
My pastor and I are currently trying to put together a archery ministry at our church. My goal is to use archery to reach out to young people in the church and community, and through the bow and arrow bring them to / strengthen their relationship with Christ. I am trying to keep this program traditional, as I see and can relate a parallel between the time and commitment required to grow profecient with traditional equipment and the time and commitment one needs to grow in spirit with Christ. We are kicking off with a very small budget and we are fortunate to have been allowed the use of land for a range, to begin with we are planning to hand make targets and as much as we can at the range. And before we shop for new bows and equipment I was wanting to humbly ask if anybody may have used equipment they wouldn't mind parting with. We are going to be starting from scratch and need everything from bows sized for the younger kids 6-10 years old, and the younger youth 12-15 those are our primary focus but we also hope to get older youth and even adults involved if they are interested. We will also be in need of gloves/tabs, arm guards, arrows and I expect quivers to be a luxury. We are around about expecting a group roughly 15 in number to start with around half or alittle more under 13.

All of the equipment would go to the church and the idea is to have enough to provide anyone interested the means to show up and shoot with out having to spend a fortune to learn. As time goes on those  in the program would be encouraged to aquire their own equipment and help in the teaching of others. This has been something The Lord has put on my heart for a long time, and any help would be greatly appreciated we prob need a lot of prayer more than anything.

And guys I'm not just asking for a hand out, our church is budgeting out some funds to purchase equipment. I'm just hoping to aquire some decent shape used equipment possibly out grown by kids already, that wouldn't mind a new home. Hopefully saving enough to help with other things involved with the program (range construction, transport for some of the kids)

Thanks for reading, please keep us in your prayers. And if you'd like to contact me feel free to pm me or email me through tradgang.
Love God, Love your neighbor.

Can't help with equipment.  Just wondering if you have checked out the "Centershot" program??  Specifically geared for church groups.  If you "Google" it you will get lots of hits.

Center Shot was a big success at our church.

Way cool! I'm actually in the process of doing something like this. It's been on hold for a bit. Way to go!
