Adjustable back pack straps
« on: December 19, 2013, 02:23:00 PM »
Any ideas on a pair of adjustable padded backpack straps I can adapt to my Lone Wolf climber without breaking the bank? I like the ones you can just pull the strap to tighten up when they are on. I'm thinking USGI surplus may be an option.

Yep, Alice straps.

About $10 most surplus stores.  Get the quick disconnect ones.

reddogge,
I was going to suggest military surplus if you have one clsoe by.  I did all my loc-ons with surplus ALICE pack straps and they work great.  If you can't find any, I've probably got a pair I could scrounge up for a trade!

We bought a pair of the, "Claw" straps and put a QD swivel on the end to attach to our lock ons. Easy on, easy off and the straps will not slide off your shoulders while packing in and out. Love 'em.......  :readit:

I have a couple of cheap, nylon, rifle shoulder straps bought from Wally World attached to my Summit climber. One end is padded for your shoulder and they're quite comfortable.

Molle shoulder and waist straps.  The waist belt makes all the difference putting the load on your hips vs shoulders.  look for them at **** and/or Allegheny surplus.

Check out Outcast Sporting Goods.  They make rubber rafts and float tubes.  They make padded backpack straps with swivel clips, I think they're under accessories.

Jimmy, do you have a pic of that setup?

I've tried a bunch of them over the years and have been disappointed in most.  They were either uncomfortable, not durable or both.  I bought a pair from Bison Gear before this season and they are by far the best I've ever tried.  I was so impressed that I bought 5 more pair after my first hunt with them.

I do use mine more than some people as I take my stand in in out with me on every sit and most of my stands end up being quite a walk from the truck or boat.  If a guy was putting a stand up before season and leaving it the cheap ones would probably be fine.

My setup is like Butchie's...

Molle all the way... super comfortable... waistbelt makes a huge difference...

Have them on my Lone Wolf Sit and Climb and Alpha with sticks...

You can find them on Cabelas website bud, that was where I bought mine. I like sveltri's idea about the swivel clips.... may change to those rather than the QD swivels we use now. I just used them cause I had an extra set just laying around. The thing I love about them most is that they do NOT slide off your shoulders. They are a tacky rubber material that grips your clothing.
