I'm also interested in a Berry longbow, maybe an Apollo or a Taipan.  I'd like to try a few different lengths and models out, but being on opposite sides of the country it'll be a little difficult.

Call James and go over what you want and expect...Bet he can help you out.
Or pick up a used one to your liking...If it don't suit, you can always resell.

A beautiful bow.  Wish it was 10 pounds heavier!

Here is another chime of the bells from Canada.

I have owned a few longbows in my time and presently I have a nice LH stable of fine outstanding keepers which include my older LH 64" 57#@26" JD Berry renaissance. It is hard to find a flaw in the build of this bow and I would rate it up there in quality with my 66" dual shelf Fred Anderson Skookum.

The renaissance is a less aggressive mild bend R/D longbow that is a dream to shoot. With my Byron Ferguson blend in style of bare bow shooting this bow for me will achieve a consistent accurate flat arrow hard hitting shot. This bow is quiet and smooth to draw w/o stacking or any hand shock.

The only thing I regret is that James Berry does not offer a TD option since I often carry my bows on my motorcycle to various shoots. If he did I would have one of his Morning-Star on order.

Well I cannot specifically help with those two models, but I currently own 4 of James bows, and just picked up a used Taipain I am waiting to arrive.
I cannot add anymore to what others have said aside from I can almost guarantee that if you order one you will be blown away by it once it arrives, James bows embody everything you are looking for in a bow (minis the carbon takedown sleve which  I'm trying to talk him into. ... I hope your reading this James LOL).  Give him a call and explain what you are looking for

I have had an Appollo and a Tiapan.I also have had 3 Renaissance longbows.

Any of these models would be very nice and easy on the eyes.

My newer Renaissance had more of a rounded off trappezoid than the older ones I have had.It blended the lines of the bow more harmoniously when viewed in profile and also from the belly side of bow. That feature is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes on this particular Reniassance when comared to my older ones.

It also shot very nice.It had all Yew limbs and was 66 inches.I had an 8 strand SBD bowstring on it.It shot very sweetly and quietly.

Some may prefer one over the other when it comes to the appollo or Renaissance. The Appollo will have a tad more weight in the riser vs the Renaissance.

I would personally ask J.D if thier have any changes between the newer and older ones of these models.

He does offer the Berry hooked knocks that will not be on bows before a certain year. They look nice and have a secure string loop fit! They also string up easily.

Love my 66", 51@28 "Tiapan". Fast, quiet and well crafted. You will not be unhappy with J. D. Berry bow. My bud, "Ric O'Shay" has a "Morningstar" ordered which should be here soon. Can't wait to try out that model.

I've admired his bows for a very long time now. Regardless of the model, I think you'll find they shoot smooth and fast with looks to match.

I own and shoot several of Mr. Berry's bows.  Each and every bow is a joy to shoot.  I am really taken with the American style bows right now but I often take my Renaissance off the rack and shoot it.  Like Mr. Berry says, A bow needs to be loved and the way to love it is to shoot it... I try and give all of them a work out every so often.

At 66" she is both powerful and smooth.  Also my Renaissance is a bow I never get tired of just looking at - LOL.

It has the deep hooked knocks.  It's bamboo with toasted maple limb veneers and has a African wenge riser.  Thought I would throw a few pics at you - I also wish this was a bit heavier but she hits really hard at 49@29.
