Softest feathers
« on: January 01, 2014, 04:56:00 PM »
Anyone find that one brand of feathers is softer (this quieter) than others?  I like the quality of true flight but they seem so stiff that if they touch at all they are pretty loud.

Have you tried natural goose feathers from Magnus? They are pretty tough yet softer than the dyed domestic turkey feathers from Trueflight. Only prob with natural is they're all a grey/blackish color if you want variety.

Hey Bud, haven't heard of them.  I'll have to check them out.  Thanks.

Ive used goose feathers and they are more quiet they however seem to wear faster.

Best bet is to not let them touch. They shouldn't touch the bow if it's tuned properly, I guess if you accidentally rub against them they would be noisey. Trade off with everything.

Hey Jim.  It's not so much on the shot.  It's rubbing against each other in the quiver, when they brush against my pants, as they brush against my face mask at full draw.  Stuff you can't really plan for.
