A few things I've been working on.
« on: September 13, 2007, 03:26:00 PM »
Well While I wait for deer season here in Ohio, I have been getting ready as always but my goals for the year are to take a deer with trad equipment and more specificaly with equipment I built myself. I've built several decent selfbows, cane arrows, cedar arrows, strings, trade points knives etc. This year I've got a bug for knapped heads so I have been busting obsidian for a while.

Here are a couple of the things I've been working on. Purple heart, Bocote handled knife... Obsidian arrowheads..... and my little practice peice of obsidian turned neck knife (ok I was getting creative and wanted to use this piece of obsidian)

What do you think?

The purpleheart was used because I had it. (wish I had a bigge peice of bocote too) I figure when my daughter gets old enough it will go to her. and actually as I look at the knife here and the picture, the picture makes it look more purple than actually it is. It was realy and experiment anyway. I like it though.

There seem a be a bunch of you Ohio guys that are impressively self-reliant.  It makes every hunt that much more memorable for you and inspiring for us.  Thanks for sharing!        :notworthy:

Great workmanship, those arrow heads are awesome, the knife is pretty cool too, in a very distinct way.  Great job.

I like the knife, the purple will look good after it ages and darkens a little.

Thanks all.

I just fletched a couple of my cane arrows. Going to shoot them a bit to see how they fly and then get my heads mounted. I also need to get out and get my real ground blind built. (see my other post "My new ground blind. Can you see it.")

So much to do so little time.

Excellent work! Post up some pics after you get those points hafted on.
