Hello, any suggestions as to where a guy could go to learn how to build recurves? Thanks  ;)

That is where I got the plans and materials to build a recurve 1st than a longbow 2nd.  Hunted with both and both have confirmed kills.  If I can do it, anybody can do it.

Uh oh!!! Looks like someone is looking for a fix. Better look out or you'll turn into a junkie. I started with Bingham longbows and jumped to my own designs after 2 bows. Also try KennyM he is a sponsor here and I believe he has a recurve template along with several longbow templates. Big Jim also has building supplies and other sponsors carry stuff too.

Be prepared to spend more than a nice custom would cost especially if you don't have a lot of tools or have buddies with tools. You will end up building several bows because you will find things you want to do different on each one. In the end you will have spent more money than you wanted unless you keep building but you will have a bow you built to hunt with which is a great feeling too.

The best place to start is to go to the Bowyers Bench here on Tradgang.  Do some searches on the types of bow you want to build.  Ask questions.  Read through bow builds.  Then talk to Kenny.  Then prepare yourself to spend way too much time and money until you die because you'll be building bows for the rest of your life.  It's like crack, but way more rewarding  :)
