SBD strings for recurve or longbow?????
« on: January 09, 2014, 11:08:00 PM »
are the strings made different for recurves or longbows?, I would like to use the same string on both my recurve and longbow or should I just order one for each?

Thanks,
Dave

Not sure what ur asking but the strings are made different.  They have different loops on them.  And they will be a different length for each.  Just order one for each bow.

The only difference is the size of the loops. The limbs on a recurve are wider then a longbow, so the loops on a string made for a recurve are going to be a lot bigger than one made for a longbow. Other than that, they are the same.

Well that and the fact that longbow strings are usually made 3 inches shy of the amo length and recurve strings are made 4 inches short

I think Pierre prefers (and most cutomers, too) to make strings to an exact measured length, i.e. take it off and measure it.  This is important in maximizing string performance, especially with skinnies.  I have owned two different model 60" recurves by the same manufacturer that were approx. 3/4" different in string length at the same brace. (Too much to interchange by twist). I doubt if your bows take the exact same string length. I'd give Pierre a call and discuss shooting big recurve loops on a long bow, even if they were close enough.  Your nock point could have to be moved on the interchange even if you got by all those hurdles.

Get at least one for each. If you hunt get 2 or more for each.   :archer2:
