cx 150's or cx 250's
« on: August 28, 2007, 08:34:00 PM »
I'm shooting a 62" Silvertip non FF string 56# @28" draw. My draw length is 28" I like to shot a 29" arrow. I want to use Magnus 1 160 gr. broadheads, with broadhead adapters @ 34gr., and a reg. shaft insert @11gr.  I also shoot 200gr. field tips. What I want to know is what would be a better match the 150's or 250's CX at my draw weight of 56# and shaft length @29". I dont want to go any heavier up front or lighter if posible, any insight would be helpfull. Thanks  Jim

James4,
Making it tough on us here.... You may be right on the bubble of a 150 working or a 250 working. Is the Silvertip centershot ? I think it is ? If so, you can shoot stiffer spine and get by with it, ( 250 ). You are also shooting dacron which makes me think you might be able to shoot a 150, but then again you are wanting to shoot about 200 grains up front AND a 29" arrow. I am going to bet a 250 will work better for you, but hopefully others will come along and help out. Why not get you a bareshaft of each and play for a while and see what shoots the best for ya ?

nocams,
I was thinking the 250's would be the ones, and will get both to see. Just wanted to hear from someone that might shoot something close to me and get their two cents. I just dont want to shoot a smaller gr. point than what I have been useing and thought the 150's at my # and lenghth would be alittle on the underspined.  Thanks

A friend of mine has a silvertip, in that same weight range, that I shot my 250's out of and they flew great.  Nothing but nock.  I used to shoot a 50lb at 28 Morrison takedown with the 250's as well.  The weight of your broadhead and field points might be overdoing it.  I shoot a 145 grain head with a 30 inch arrow and 29 inch draw.  total weight of the arrow is 545 (way more than enough)

Yep, the more I think about it I say you will be able to get a 250 to fly better than a 150.

I go with the 250's also but get some 50 grain brass inserts I think you're going to need them for the spine

I'm shooying a 55@31 widow recurve ,dyna97 string. It took 250's 32" 50 grain insert 125gr. heads. Shoots good for me.
