Home made ghilliesuits
« on: January 20, 2014, 08:03:00 PM »
I was strolling through the How To Section and saw Guru's ghillie suit build along(very nice job), and wondered if anyone else made a homemade ghillie out of other materials?

Pics would be appreciated.Time for a pre spring project

I have made a ghillie suit and will have to get pictures soon. I used a one piece camo coverall and sewed hunks and strips of the Rancho Safari material where I wanted it and it works awesome. Cheap and works great. I can dress however I want for whatever weather as I sewed a strap across chest to take up extra material for sitting too. I had a doe back to my left at 7 yds. and a small buck back to my right at 10 yds. on the ground and never got busted, was way cool but very hard to stay that still for that long. If I was to try to draw at that distance it would be tough. I where it all the time, even in the trees. I made a matching boone hat too.

If you make one ensure to use fire retardant msterial.  We used jute then washed it in fire retardant.
