I had it done locally by a guy who used to do repairs for REI. I hadhim put in a five inch jack and surround it with fire treated canvas. A five inch oval may have been a better choice but not sure. Had him leave the bottom edge unsewn just in case moisture got between the layers of canvas. I want to say the bottom of the circle is four and a half feet from the ground but not sure. He sealed all the seams and made a canvas flap closure with velcro.

A three dog would work well. I got the four dog because it takes afull size log and will heat my future 14x16 wall tent. Absolutely great craftsmanship.  A guy with welding skills and know how could make a stove as good but couldn't see any being better.

It cost me $150 to get the jack and canvas put in.
