Turning a 1 piece longbow into a 2 piece takedown?
« on: January 28, 2014, 07:42:00 PM »
This may be a dumb question I don't know I'm not a bowyer, I have a big jim buffalo wich I love but would like a 2 piece takedown could big jim turn it into a 2 piece takedown or is that not even an option, also have a one piece whip too, is that an option from dan toelke as we'll, or should I just pony up the cash for a completely new bow, this was just running through my mind, it was too late to call big jim. Thanks for the info

Big Jim makes them all the time. Once you contact him shouldn't take long to determine if your model is a good candidate.

maybe you can send it to big jim as a Trade in on the one you want? he sells used bows all the time so with your old bow and a Little cash you could end up with a nice new one! just a Thought, Jim seems like a fair guy. right after I joined this site I bought a new Bear Kodiak Magnum, Jim kindly told me he had them on sale cheaper then what I bought mine from cabelas for? almost bought another one in lighter draw weight! the Ol Hide er Wife said No way Mister. you have a wall full of bows you don't shoot!! NO...... You could pay someone else to do it, but if it is over 50 lbs, you will regret it.

Bows designed to be two piece will have reinforced risers to handle the take down system.

Larrydawg had a good idea. trade them in to get what you want. or just buy more    ;)
