VA blizzard
« on: January 28, 2014, 11:29:00 PM »
SE Virginia is getting pounded with 6-12" inches of snow which for us might as well be the apocalypse.   I'm excited to get out and shoot in the morning.  I leave my 2 rinehart targets outside and they were hard as rock this morning.  Pieces of foam were freezing to my arrows when I was shooting so hopefully they won't be permanently damaged by the cold.

Who else will be shooting in the snow?!

Sounds like nice tracking snow.  We look forward to that here in NY.    :biglaugh:

We got about 3-4 inches here in Upper East Tennessee. I live 15 miles from Bristol, VA. I feel your pain SARarcher, everything is pretty much shut down around here too. But I'm not going to be shooting, I'm staying inside where its warm!  :campfire:

"Who else is shooting in the snow?"

I would say most of the continent.

Good morning to all! Here Chesterfield county va we got about 4in of snow and the temp is 16. Im like a kid I LOVE IT!! plain on shooting this morning as soon as I get the bride off to work. the snow is unusual here least since I was a kid. We use to get plenty back in the 70's and early 80's.

We got a couple of inches of snow, which for Middle Georgia is pretty significant. It is a good thing that Al Gore gave us global warming, otherwise, it might REALLY get nasty.

Deer season is closed, so I can't hunt in snow. I would like to be able to do that.

Here in Middlesex County, we received about 4 inches… nothing much.  However, the cold… ouch.  Cutting dry cold.  So, the wife and I just stayed in today.

About mid-day we took a walk to see what we could see.   The first photo is at the back of the property… just looking at the inlet.

The second photo is where the deer normally bed down, and sure enough…. Jen counted 9 doe beds (in this one area).

And this last one was taken as we walked down the main road. I can only guess the tracks are from a confused little critter.

We received about 8" in my neck of the woods.  Got to spend the day with the family and shoot my bow.  Beautiful day!

Just a reminder, the Tidewater bowhunters shoot is this Sunday, feb 2 at Newport News park!

Floyd,

Sorry, no.  We've been busy with the Rescue Squad and "shootin" had to come in second.

If you can't find a shoot, what I can recommend is attending our 1st Annual Super "Bowl Chili Cook-Off:  Saturday, February 1, 2014 At the Piankatank Ruritan Club (Mathews County).

The Valley where I am just got a dusting but the temps have been something else. Nice to share with the rest of the state as we usually get more snow. Be careful out there.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
