Adapters??

Have new broadheads (ACE) and aluminum adapters. No matter what I try, I cannot get them to spin true.i've tried different broadheads on the same arrows and they spin true. Where is the weak link, the adapters or heads?

Did you install the heads yourself or did they come installed? Try heating them up and re-seating as it may be an excess glue problem. They should spin true.
Also, if they are the short adapters those can cause fits sometimes too. The long adapters seat better.

Sometimes it is the broadhead's ferrule but you can get any of them to spin true. The easiest and most precise way for me is to use an alignment jig. With a jig,you can see exactly how far off center the tip is and in exactly which direction it is off.

Thanks, I just cut my finger monkeying with them! I'm using the long adapters but do not have an alignment jig yet.

You can make a simple one with wood or whatever. It doesn't need to be fancy. Two "V" blocks and a reference point is all it takes.

The most common mistakes are using too much glue and not getting everything hot enough.

Seemed I ran into this several years ago.(slept since then)
Either the short adapter or a small diameter shaft let the back of the broadhead seat too deep and contact insert or shaft and not the taper.
11/32nds on a 5/16th shaft.Think I lightly ground
the back of the broadhead, but I'm not sure..been too long.

Wel, I screwed up and "thought" I had two of them perfectly aligned so i superglued vs using hotmelt like a fool. I wanted to use something different. Why? I dont know! Anyway, I got four stitches to go with the frustration. About the adapters, I noticed they do not fit flush but stick out of the broadhead about 1/8".
