Let me say threw Trad Gang I became friends with Vince and actually met him once.I have owned at least 6 Mohawks and only 1 PL. That being said let me tell you a true story. After owning 3 or 4 Mohawks, I decided to sell them to get a Widow PLV that I always wanted. I figured I was getting up in age, been working like a dog 6 days a week I was do. It was to be my Holy Grail of bows.Well I received my PLV. I told Vince. He basically said you'll be back. Time passed. I get a call from Vince he says Hey Pollack there's a Mohawk in the classifieds for sale. If you don't buy it I'll buy the darn thing back! I think it was a 62"'er around 50#'s @ my 27" draw. All Tonkin Cane limbs [the best IMHO] with a cocoabolla riser or might have been 2 tone cocoabolla/ bacote I believe. Well I bought it. Needless to say the next season I carried that Mohawk into the deer woods while the PLV hung in the garage. I sold the PLV shortly after. After that I  always had  3 Mohawks. A TD and a Sparrowhawk besides the 62"'er. You will have a hard time to find a finer person/bowyer than Vince. Now as far as the PL they are fantastic bows too. I just felt more comfortable with the Mohawk. They just fit me like a glove. I was lucky to have the same hand dimensions as Vince if it felt good to him it was perfect for me. The Widow is bow perfection quality wise. You can't get any closer to perfect as far as workmanship. Everyone is different though. I would consider a try before you buy PL. The Folks at Black Widow are first class too. You and I just missed a fine deal of a beautiful  Sparrowhawk in the classifieds.Beautiful bow! I would see if I could buy a used Mohawk. Shoot it and decide for yourself. Mohawks are working man friendly too as far as price.

By the way if you look at my avatar picture I'm wearing a Mohawk T shirt and holding a black Mohawk. That bow was the first black/grey actionwood riser bow Vince ever built. Also the first with Black Glass limbs. I killed a fine 6pt Buck the next season with that bow.

Bentpole,
Thank you for your story. That is one of the Awesome things about traditional archery. I have meet some of the nicest people. I did talk to Vince on the phone he was very helpful. I need to find a mohawk in Mississippi that I can shoot. Blackwidow is going be at the Alabama spring fling,I can shoot a PL there. Thanks for all the information.

I got my Mohawk unintentionally after looking for a Robertson Purist or one of his newer models...  One came up for sale....I read Rob Distefano's post on testing the Sparrowhawk...and decided what could I lose.

After knowing nothing about them I quickly became someone that is a fan.  The bamboo limbs...the mild reflex...it is a sweet shooting bow.  I likely will still pick up a Robertson as I have always loved his bows....but only own or owned the recurves.

If you get a chance to shoot both I think you would be happy with either...for me the Mohawk is just a little better all around...speed is not everything to me though the Sparrowhawk is plenty fast.
Keep em sharp,

How many laminations does a PL have. Just curious. I know the mohawk sparrowhawk has five laminations.
