Ground Blinds for 60" recurve

Looking for feedback on finding an affordable pop-up tent blind that a 60" recurve can be used in.  What have you actually hunted in?

Not sure what your budget is, but for the money and a lasting blind, I don't think you can go any better than a Dark Horse DBL Bull. They will I feel outlast anything out there. That has been my experience anyway, and will allow for a 60" bow easily.       Do a search of popup blinds, a lot of good input from a lot of knowledgeable Trad bowhunters! Good luck and choose wisely.

i used an Ameristep Brotherhood blind this year with my 58" recurve and a Huntmore chair. plenty roomy!

not the cheapest but nowhere near the most expensive. liked it so much i bought another one.

looking forward to turkeys in a couple weeks. killed one out of it in the fall.

Most blinds can be shot with a 60" bow.  What you need to look at is ease of put up, quality of material,  quietness in a wind (very important for me) and window configuration.  I have hunted out of a bunch of binds and several are good for maybe one season and then they fade, flap, and fall apart.  I am partial to the Double Bull but have hunted out of an Ameritep, Rhino and a Gander MNT blind with good results.

I`ve used a Brickhouse for thats 5 years or so. shot everything from 60" recurves to 66" Hill bows from it.I have one I bought last year from bass pro that is 70" tall. Can`t remember the name but it is a fine blind. I`m gonna dig it out in a few days to set for turkey season.RC

The problem I've found with a lot of these blinds is that the bottom of the windows are not low enough. I like my turkeys CLOSE but some blinds are prohibitive at shooting them at 5 yards because you can't point your bow down due to the restriction of the window.

So far, the only blind I've seen that has windows like I want is the Hidden Hunter with its vertical windows. If there is something else out there that fits the bill, please let me know.

I agree that the bigger problem is window placement. I have one of the ameristep hub style blinds, and it's great, but only the vertical corner windows are suitable for shooting a recurve through. Although I've been known to just shoot right through the side of the blind if it's only 5 yards or something. Doesn't seem to matter much.

I just patch it up afterwards ... sometimes.

My experience though is that the hub blinds are a bit larger generally and handle a bow od 60"+ better than the onest hat pop-out like the dorm room laundry hampers ...

RC I think you bought the Blackout blind from Bass Pro Shop?

I have used a LOT of blinds in the turkey woods and this one is at the top of the line.
When selecting a turkey blind, give great consideration to the length of the windows. Often times even a tall blind will have high window bottoms that force your upper tip in contact with the roof and will not allow shots at close ranges. Low window bottoms are the key. The Black Out blind has very low window bottoms and will even allow down hill shots. It is a blind that will easily hold 2 hunters with room to spare and it is tough. It has a ceiling height of 73". I put these blinds through some long hard seasons guiding turkey hunters and they have held up well.
Hope this helps.

I called Primos hoping to find a Dark Horse Recurve model (74" high), but no luck. Their new model, the Doublewide, is 70" but does not come in a recurve model.

I'll probably get a Primos The Club XXL, which is 77" high.  The fabric is supposed to be dull/non-shiny like the DB.
