What make glove gives the most controlled release?
« on: February 26, 2014, 06:41:00 PM »
Iv' been using the Dura glove for several years now. The dura glove is a good glove, but I'm shopping for a glove that gives a little more control on the release ( if there is one). What glove gives you the best control on your release? Have you found the perfect glove? If you have, please share it with us!

The American Leathers Bigshot with a nice coating of Dr. Schulz foot powder is the best that I have found.

I prefer the American Leathers Crossover over the other gloves I have tried. It's about as perfect as I have found for me.

Depends on what you mean by control.
I guess my interpretation of control would be how we'll you can feel the string on your fingers to control it.  If you can't feel it you can't control it.
That said I always gravitate back to my Damascus glove. I can feel the string and know exactly where it needs to be on my fingers to get off a clean shot.
I do have an American leathers big shot great glove but I'm a little more accurate with my Damascus.

Hey David- if you find it buy one for me! Right now I'm using a Hill Delux with the to fingers stalls removed and hand stiched to make me happy.... It still isn't just right and I'm not happy....

I like the traditional glove that Tom Parsons sells.  They let you have a nice feel on the string.

Having tried several different gloves over the years,  the Howard Hill Deluxe glove has given me the most control, comfort, and lifetime by a wide margin for my first joint finger position on the string.  I find that I have to break them in for a hundred shots or so, and trimmed up at  the top of the finger stalls for a perfect feel at my anchor point.

I was dealing with the exact same problem a few years years back, especially after I starting shooting with a deep hook. Couldn't find a glove that came far enough down the inside of the fingers or didn't have that silly ridge created by the seam on the inside of the fingers. The only ones that may have worked were so far beyond the budget that I thought I'd try a tab.

Totally against the tab, but listening to experts here I gave it a solid try. Not only did my release get smoother but my shooting improved and arrows were easier to tune. I realize I'm not helping here but thought that someone might get something out of this.

Side note….I always did wonder why olympian archers didn't use a glove? (OK OK…now I'm stirring the pot a bit…sorry)

Like many have I've tried most available options over the years, but have settled on John Turner's American Leather products.  Next time I see John at a shoot I plan to pick up a couple more for back ups.  I've found that this glove gives me the most consistent release I've ever experienced.

Speedglove is the best glove I have found to date.  Been shooting one for a year and I shoot a lot and there is no string groove.

Stick-tite by Black Widow.  Med wt. leather.  As it softens feel is really good yet protected.  Smooth. No seams. Stays on hand. Just shy of $20.

I used a glove very similar to the dura glove for years it was the Grizzly glove. They quit making them so I ended up trying the Speed glove from Bearpaw, Big Jim sells them it is an awesome glove. It finds itself right in between the Dura glove and a super glove for feel of the string, it is built right and is only $20 I have shot the heck out of mine for several years now and it shows no sign of wear at all.

I shot a Crossover for a while, and it is definitely high quality. I thought I had found glove nirvana. But, I find that I shoot the Berlin style glove better. I get the ones from Rocky Mt. Specialty Gear. I shoot with a deep hook, and these gloves fit me better. To each his own.
