Hooter Shooter info
« on: February 27, 2014, 02:15:00 PM »
Who has used one or has had a bow set up with one. Does anyone with in 200 miles from DC have one set up. I see they are for sale for around 1200 dollars but would like to see and or have a bow shot using one before I would consider buying. I would think some larger bow shops or 3D clubs should have one if they are any good. Lets see?

I have heard of Hooters, even been there a time or two. But I have never heard of a Hooter Shooter, but there is an image that comes to mind.

Yeah, that is a big chunk of change.  Seems like its meant more for compound bows as opposed to trad.

Do some googling if you really want one as there are some incredible DIY units that are amazing.  One of my favs is a little more than $100 made for one of these..http://www.homedepot.com/p/Ryobi-Miter-Saw-Stand-A18MS01/100397569

BTW:  They work for trad as will as compound bows, but if you want to find the plans, you will have to look on a compound site ;-)

Building one is not out of the question but talking to someone that uses one and seeing it is the first step don't you think?

We have one in the shop and it works well for compounds.  Never was tempted to put a recurve or longbow thru the paces.  if you shoot with fingers, why?  if you shoot a release it might help tune.

I've read forum threads of people using them with trad bows. Would be real hard to duplicate the forces your fingers place on the arrow during a shot which would need to be duplicated pretty closely to get meaningful results. I'd love to have one to do tuning on my wife's bow etc. And even on my own bow.

We have a shooting machine at the shop that is similar to a Hooter Shooter.  I use it for broadhead testing, bow tests, but not bow set up.  That has to be done by fingers if a finger shooter.

I am starting to get it now. Fingers are different. Still if you made one would it not show which bows were different or had something wrong with them.

I would love to have one to to be able to do some factual testing on different limbs for performance. Look at Blacky's test to see how usefull they are.

Kirk has one and he has set it up with finger release. Really cool and duplicates what it would be with fingers if you had a perfect release.

Anybody know how they duplicate a finger release?
