Backcountry Hunters and Anglers: now in CA
« on: March 04, 2014, 12:37:00 PM »
I hope I am not violating some web ethic or custom, but I would like to encourage all of you who value the experiences of wilderness to investigate this organization.  Their mission statement is:

Backcountry Hunters & Anglers seeks to ensure North America's outdoor heritage of hunting and fishing in a natural setting, through education and work on behalf of wild public lands and waters.

Here is a link that works for me

A California chapter was recently started--it also has a Facebook group

Than you,

Good news, Bruce. I'd posted a similar note a few months ago about the just-formed New England chapter.

BHA is growing quickly. For anyone who values backcountry hunting and fishing, it's the only genuine place to be (IMHO).

Thank you, sir. The organization has a Rendezvous coming up in Denver soon.  I am not going, but I bet there are a lot of arrow slingers from that area that would enjoy it.

I just joined last month. I am fortunate to hunt and fish the back country, and I want to keep it wild.

Reduced funding for enforcement of wilderness access rules, as well as increased road building into traditional wilderness areas, is putting the hurt on game and fish populations all over, but seems especially common around here.  I am finding ATV tracks and hearing them in places they should never be.
