With D97 you can go 10 and it's going to work pretty good. I used to use d97 and shot 60-65# at the time with 10strand. Pads to 16 with b50 or d97.   or .018 serving double served

A 12 strand D97 is strong enough for up to a 100# bow.I shot 12 strand D97 on a 83# DQ Longhunter.12 strand with .024 Halo will give you close to a finished .110 diameter. That fits a lg G-nock(.098 throat) and Easton 3D Super nock great for me.I'll use 8 strands for some of my skinny strings up to 58#,usally if you go below 10 strands you may have to doulble serve for nock fit.

+1

10 or 12 padded will be good to go.

I'd use 12 with the loops padded to 18.  You could use less, but I don't know of any reason to.  You will get more stretch, more creep, and less durability.  You will gain...maybe a couple of fps (or maybe not).

One of the great things about making your own is you get to experiment and see what works best for you.

12 strand D97 padded to 14, .024 or .026 depending on nock fit. Good all around string.
