Glow in the DArk Arrows?
« on: September 18, 2007, 11:57:00 PM »
Has anyone or does anyone know how to make glow in the dark arrows. I thought just staining them with some type of glow in the dark high lighter would work but i cant seem to find one. Does anyone sell glow in the dark arrow wraps. Thanks.

I am toying with the idea of making some wraps in glo in the dark vinyl.  What do you think?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Maybe you could combine the reflective and the glow- in-the-dark in some fashion.

I just made some up using a glow paint for my cresting.  I found this paint on-line at:  http://www.glowinc.com,  and it glows very brightly (I bought the Ultra green v10).  I painted white stripes first then put it on and sealed it with their sealer.  I haven't put the feathers on these yet but here are some pics.

I thought about this last year, and thought glow-in-the-dark nocks/wraps would be great for visibility, but wouldn't it also spook deer?  Unlike reflective wraps - where your eye can only see the reflection if the light source is right next to your head - with glow-in-the-dark features on an arrow, deer could see it in any direction during lowlight, correct?

Has anyone field-tested this?

A company called savage systems has a standard nock that is made out of a glow-in-the-dark plastic. A google search will find them at multiple vendors. And then, there's always luminoks that you can really see well...though expensive.

I think a glow in the dark wrap would sell well.

Automotive reflective tape at you local Wally World. Put a wrap between your nock and feathers. It has helped me many times finding arrows in the evenings, glows like nobody's business when hit with flashlight.

How about having the "glow" portion in a band by the nock that would be covered by your fingers when drawing, then some reflective material lower down?  Hopefully that would be hidden from game's eyes, but draw yours when needed so you could shine a light...

Just thinkin' (OUCH!)
