Much like Recurve50LBS's story, but with a couple minor differences.
First chance to hunt this season, and my oh my, what a time! I had a ladder stand overlooking a foodplot, and started up it, only to back down, and hunt from the ground nearby. I took my "stand" between two small oak trees, and made like wood for a while. The wind was steady in my face, and I knew a doe with a couple yearlings had been hanging out there.
About 6:30 PM, I sensed some movement behind me and to my left. I slowly turned to see a deer which had walked up behind me! Now, you gotta understand, I had done NOTHING on the order of scent control. Worked all day, just pulled on a camo t-shirt and hit the woods.
As the deer moved through the blackberry briars behind me, I realized it was a little buck. A very pretty and sleek forkhorn. I bowhunted years ago, but this was my first year back, and I'd never taken a deer with a "stick and string". Needless to say, I was PUMPED! Unfortunately, so was the buck. He must have gotten a little whiff, because as he moved closer, I could see that he was acting a little spooky. I think the wind was strong enough, that it confused him some as to where the bad man smell was coming from.
