Denny is a genuine, down to earth, good guy.
About 15 years ago my buddy was going to Africa for his honeymoon. He had a bunch of questions about selecting the right place to go for a trad hunter, gear suggestions, etc. He sent Denny an email asking a couple questions. Denny emailed him back and said "here is my address, come out and we can talk about it all". John (my buddy) called me and asked me if I wanted to tag along.
We hung with Denny for a couple hours and I was like a sponge absorbing everything him and john talked about. At the time I had only been a hunter for about 5 years where as both Denny and John were far more experienced. It was an amazing experience to learn and absorb everything they said.
On the way home all we talked about was how the world needs more people like him. He took 2 hours out of his time to invite 2 people he didn't know into his home to help us. Very few people in the world are that way. I cant say I know him well. heck, i was so interested in listening and learning i don't think i said 5 words when we were there. But I can say that not only did i learn about about hunting, gear, etc. I also seen first hand what it feels like to be on the receiving end of some one going the extra mile for someone else. Something I will never forget and always try to offer others when the opportunity presents itself. Everytime I see a picture of his, read an article or watch his videos I think about that trip. He could of just blew John's email off or given him a short quick answer, but instead opened up his schedule, house, etc to help 2 strangers. It just doesn't get any better than that.
