Riser Dimpling

I don't know if I have the correct name for the small hole indentations done to risers for design.  What is the correct name of this process.  Also how is it done.

If you search "stippling" you will find many threads. I vaguely remember a "build along", but didn't find it.

Brownells sells stippling tools. It is used on rifle stocks too.
