64" Bear T/D?
« on: April 12, 2014, 01:23:00 PM »
I'm looking to order a Bear T/D and would like to hear the pros and cons of going with a B riser and #3 limbs for a 64" bow.  My draw length is 28".  Leaning towards the 2014 two-tone riser although the all Bubinga riser is beautiful.  I currently shoot a 60" 59 Kodiak.  Thanks.

I have always liked the "B" riser and #3 limbs for a 60" bow for my 28" draw. 64" would be great too, and super smooth and stable.

What is the difference between the risers? I don't know a lot about the takedowns but I have to say for a factory bow they are great looking  :)  Was unsure about them but what I'm seeing is very impressive..... Papa Bear would approve I believe  ;)

IMHO the longer limbs make a smoother draw. I have 2sets of #3 limbs. One set is 53# the other60# on my "B" risers. You might consider where you hunt, open country or thick brush. I have found the longer limbs need more clearance in a tree stand also.

I don't believe there are any "cons". You don't have to have a 30+" draw to enjoy a longer bow. Shoot one, that's the best way to find out.

Mike unless I am badly mistaken, a B riser with #3 limbs makes a 64" bow only.  Enlighten me if I am wrong.  I just got a B riser with #1 limbs and it is 60".  A fantastic bow too I might add.  Bear is turning me back into a recurve shooter.  I haven't found a curve I like as well in years.

Alan: Either length will work fine for you.  Might think about your intended use.  I had a 64-inch bow set up that I used mostly for targets.  Used shorter limbs to make a 60-inch bow for hunting. The longer bow was sure a pleasure to shoot.

I shoot mostly longbows so ultimately let my B Bear riser go. Still shoot no. 1 and no. 3 limbs on my A Bear risers though.  Nice thing about Bear TDs, you can always buy another set of limbs later, or several.  Now that's having your cake and eating it too.

David, you are correct.  B riser and #3 limbs gives you a 64" bow.  A riser, #1 limbs makes for a 56" bow.  B with 1 or A with 3 will give you 60".

I love mine but I draw 30" so the #3 limbs worked best for me.
