Anyone out there know of an oil base stain that will turn cedar the color of a redish cocobolo. Trying to match this.

Sedona red minwax. Looks pretty close on some arras, others look pink.

Yes ... the challenge of red dye ... I've been there. Ended up with arrow that look like they're from a carnival ride.

Watco oil in Fruitwood color will get you pretty close. Won't be a perfect match though. Will take several coats.

Mahogany might be pretty close as well.

Soft gel paste food coloring made by americolor 120 super red
these are Douglas Fir so the cedar shafts should come out a lil darker but It's the red above the cresting. It's cake fondant coloring it works great. Just add a couple teaspoons of water and you good to go. I finish over with wipe on polycrylic or toung oil depending if I want to see the grain or not.

Mahogany does have a reddish tint, cedar shafts being pretty white may take a few coats to match the depth of color on your bow.

Handsome bow. I prefer analine dyes. You can get them from Tandy Leather or a fancy wood working shop like Woodcraft.
