"A-Rest" chair..anybody try one?
« on: April 22, 2014, 12:18:00 PM »
Hey gang,

I usually hunt in natural ground blinds.
But on really rainy days I take out my pop up blind.

I've been using a small 3 legged folding chair with a back for years and it's ok..not great but comfortable enough and it happens to slide into the blind's "bag".
Like this...

Anyway, my chair has finally bit the dust.
So I was looking for another and can find them for $20 or so.

While looking I found this "A-rest" chair.
It's bigger but does look way more comfortable.
Prob won't fit completely into the blind's bag..but having a bit of it sticking out the top wouldn't be too bad.

Anyway, just curious if any of you have experience with it.

Here's a pic...

Here's a quick vid of it..

I hope you get some feedback on this. My three legged chair is about used up, and this one looks pretty good.

This chair is a similar design though it appears to be better made and is adjustable.   http://www.bahunting.com/products/chairs/

Nice looking chair, but 8.5# would be a deal-breaker for me.

Very unconventional but extremely light and comfortable is the Helinox Chair. I got mine from Mystery Ranch for around $89. I was extremely skeptical of the pictures, but found the chair to be built tank-tough, comfy, and packs to the size of a bread loaf. Only 2.2 pounds.

I would bet you would find the A-Rest far less comfortable than your old one.

I have had one for maybe 8/9 years. to me it is the most comfortable chair I have used. I found it to better for me than the huntmore I had and sold. The draw back is the legs do not adjust. If I was on unleveled ground I just used a small hand shovel I carried in my fanny pack to dig a little hole for the leg that needed it. Mine was bought from Pam's archery when they were in business.

I've been turkey hunting since the first of the week. I ordered the A-Rest chair on line before I left to go hunting. Made a quick run home this morning and the chair was in the P.O. Postmaster said it had been there for a couple days. Looks good, light weight, solid, comfortable and easy to sling on the back. I think it's going to work well with my 5.5' Hidden Hunter blind, making for a fast pickup and go to the birds outfit.
