1st fawns of the season
« on: June 05, 2014, 09:20:00 AM »
On my three mile walk this morning I saw two does.  The first had a fawn that was a day or two old and the second had just given birth.  I watched as the fawn stood on unsteady legs and wabbled over to mom for a first meal.  I moved quietly away to leave them in peace.  Sorry I didn't take my phone so no pics.  I'll be carrying it from now on.

Saw one on the way to work this morning that had been hit by a car. What a shame. It was very small too, couldn't have been very old.

Tuesday morning I looked out the window and was really surprised to see these two out back. Not surprised to see fawns, but the size of them. They must have been born real early.

Yep. My wife reported seeing a doe and her new fawn in the backyard yesterday. And life goes on! Love it!

I saw my first last week.  I saw them nursing.  It was a cool sight to see.

This is about when I start seeing them pretty regular.  I saw a pair of twins May 8th, earliest I have ever seen fawns by about a month.

Great pics. I havent been in the woods in a while. The yellow flies are thick down here. On a side note, I have been wearing the flounder out wade fishing.......

Saw a little one with moma this morning in the back yard. They clean out the wife's bird feeder about every 2 days. The fawn never got more than a few feet from moma.
