Byron Ferguson bows

Not share if this is where this question should be, but has anyone had any experience with Byron Ferguson's bows? Not the Zbows, made by his son, but the ones that HE is making now.

What are yiu looking to know?

I've handled/shot his woodsman and royal and they are good bows. Solid craftsmanship , good finish, a little bump at the end of the shot, and basic performance you'd expect from that design.

He has a nice grip on them, if you like a narrow , deep grip which I do

I saw his "show" at Deer Expo in Louisville this spring and talked to him.  He only mentioned his sons bows and in his booth only had his sons bows.  I thought he stopped making them a while back?

They must perform well but on the two occasions I have handled them the finish was surprisingly a little rough.  Needs a steel wool rub or wet sand at one more coat in my opinion. They are built to shoot, not be works of art on the wall seems like.

I was just wondering about the overall quality. And I went on his son's website and it says that Byron is no longer affiliated with them. And I also found a Byron Ferguson bows Facebook page where he says he's making them now.

I have a 66" Safari (go to his website to see it). It seems like a great bow, but I haven't owned many longbows, so I can't compare it to others. I bought it from Byron personally. He is involved with making this model anyway.

Is he having someone else building them for him or he is he building them himself?  Anyone that shoots as good as he does, knows when he has a good shooting bow in his hands.

I have an old Ferguson Hill-style longbow. 68" 55@28, 2 lam maple core, green glass, and about 1 1/2" backset. Awesome shooter with one of the best grips I ever held

I wish I would have waited if Byron is building them now. I bought a Zach built bow last year. It's a good shooter because of the design, but it has issues. I own 2 other Byron bows and as Tony the Tiger says " Their Great". Seriously though I am a big fan of Byron's bow designs.

His other son, Shaun, is making the new Safari bows. You can go to Bryon Ferguson on Facebook for the latest information and pics.
