Ripley's, Err, WildmanSC's Believe It Or Not
« on: June 26, 2014, 03:03:00 PM »
It's hard to believe, but a year ago I started My journey with Morrison Cheyenne recurves.  I'm now on my third riser and second set of limbs.  I sold the first two risers and the first set of limbs.

I've settled on the Leadwood B Riser and Max 1 carbon/foam D limbs.  The combination gives me a bow that is 62"and 45#@28".  It's the smoothest and quietest shooting bow I've ever owned and it flings my 483 gr Victory VAP 350 arrows with 200 gr points at 183 fps.  At 67, I think I've bought my last bow, believe it or not!    :biglaugh:    :biglaugh:

For those who haven't been around the TG forum for more than a year or so, maybe I should explain what I'm saying a bit further.  I gained a reputation, and rightly so, for going through bows like women go through shoes.    ;)   In the 15 years I've been shooting traditional bows I've bought, sold and/or traded 200+ longbows and recurves.  The Morrison Cheyenne is the first bow I've owned for anywhere near a year, believe it or not!     :knothead:    :biglaugh:

Danny,

That may be true, but this ole dog is through buying bows.  The only thing I would be tempted to buy would be a set of Max 2 limbs for my Cheyenne, if Bob ever has Border build them in that configuration.  :)

Ron,

Yes I did for about 9 months.  But then the last 6 weeks I went to The Archery Shop to shoot, I'd hand my "bow"up on one of the lanes of the indoor range, put my arrows in a tube, go back to the front of the shop,  sit down andtalk with Budro and his patrons.  The only thing I'd shoot for two hours or so is the bull!  :)   I finally decided I needed to get back to traditional so I'd want to shoot a bow again.

Bill,

I too am in love with Cheyenne's.

I got my first one about 4 months ago and it is the best shooting bow I have ever shot!

My only complaint has been hand slipage in this SC heat, so with that being said I sent it back to Bob Wednesday to get a full pine cone engraved.

I don't have trouble with my hand slipping on my Cheyenne.  The riser has a low grip, so it doesn't tend to slip like it does on higher grips.

Dang, Bill that's good.  The first part of recovery is admitting you have a problem, lol!  If I had known all that, I would have never fed your addiction by selling you my Max 1's. Or maybe I was part of the healing process since they were instrumental in helping you overcome your condition. At any rate, if I had known Bob's "hiatus" while moving was going to turn into a permanent thing with respect to limbs, you'd still be hopelessly hooked....wifeless, homeless, begging for arrows!!! (I'm laying on this heavy guilt trip to remind him he's supposed to be helping me find a set of Shawnee recurve limbs)

Even a lesser bow may spawn the desire to just live the unique experience that abounds within the way of the traditional.

Stump,

Thanks!  Now that I'm retired I don't have the flow of fun money that I had prior to retiring.  This bow is it, by necessity!  :)

Bill,
Those are some pretty good numbers for 45#  Glad to hear that you may have found the last one.

I did that also ,about two years ago, even had "The last one"penned on it by the boywer.

Tippit owns it now,and sadly to say some others have come and gone since then.

                                      Good Shooting,

Craig,

Actually, I'm drawing 47-48#@29" with the bow. So, the addedd draw length/weight gives me a bit of extra zip.  But, yes, the bow is very quick!
