Carbon Express Heritage Help
« on: July 16, 2014, 09:34:00 PM »
Gday Guys

I love my Carbon express heritage shafts, used them flat out with my 60# bow with absolute great success. That bow now has broken and im currently using a 63# Stalker Coyote FXT and PSAx BW 68#.. Now i want to be able to shoot atleast 550g out of both of the bows, will i be able to get perfect arrow flight out of these bows with bare shafting and heavy heads?? in the past i haven't been able to use a heavy head with the CXs and the widow so any info would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I love these shafts also. You didn't say what shafts you are shooting now. I am shooing similar to what you are shooting now,at least on the 60 lbs bow. I am shooting 150 grain at 32" long. That would not qualify for the heavy head, but you could try the other shafts. I've also shot the 250's and they would not go as heavy heads in that category. I think I shot a 175 or around 200 grain head with that shaft and that weight. I'm no expert, but you might have to go with the  350's with a 68 lbs bow and heavy head. I've never had any luck with trying to match a head to a shaft. I've always tried to get close on spine and then give it what head it liked, but that's just me. Good luck!

Thanks mate, im using Gold Tip Trads now but I personally prefer the Heritages, is the 350s stiff enough to handle a 200+g head out of 68#?? thanks

Like I said Jack I'm no expert, but I have experience with 150's and 250's and they would not do what you want.  I didn't see if you said or not what length you are using. If you are shooting a short draw and pick the 350's I would imagine they would be pretty stiff allowing you to use a pretty heavy head,if your draw is longer I really don't know what you could get away with. I would try to get a test kit for the 350's and try them out and that way you would know  before you bought a bunch of them.

Jack, with carbon one of the main factor to acheive proper spine is its lenght. There is a HUGE difference between a 28" and a 30" arrow made out of the same shaft.
So first whats your DL and how long do you cut your arrows?

Jack,

I shoot a 60# @ 28" R/D 66" longbow.  I draw 27.5" shooting split finger.  I bare shafted CE 350's with a 100 gr insert and 250 gr. head.  I kept cutting off the shaft until I got perfect flight and that length was 29.3"

Will they work at 68#?  Sure, but with either a shorter shaft or a lighter weight up front.  You'll have to play around with them yourself.
