new arm gaurd? or brace height?
« on: August 08, 2014, 08:32:00 AM »
I was shooting a field round last night with a friend, he suggested I try a new way to lock my bow arm shoulder in and I liked it and it seems to help. However this is a result on my arm this morning when I woke up...

1, I know it's a cheap arm guard, would a better one prevent this?

2, Should I change my brace height and retune?

First of all it may be cheap but it is good you had it on.
You do need a new one.
In addition to the seated shoulder, not just in but back you should be able to open up your stance enough to get better clearance.
Maybe rotating your elbow slightly will help.
You need to change something to eliminate hitting the arm/guard on the power stroke.

I will try rotating my elbow a bit to see if that helps some, bet it will.

I'd make sure my arm wasn't locked. I had that problem with my Bear and was getting horrible string slap. I changed my form a little by rotating my elbow out and I lost all string slap.
But yeah, I think you need a new arm guard.

Yup.... that will do it. if not, open up your stance like stated above.

Sometimes gripping the bow wrong will give you problems too. try not to wrap your fingers clear around the grip. Try drawing with an open hand & placing your finger tips lightly on the back of the riser completely relaxed.... this eliminates any torque.
