Dawgware vs Arrowmaster vs Bowmate Elite
« on: August 23, 2014, 12:22:00 PM »
Ok, these three all look pretty similar. As near as I can tell from catalogs the only real difference is the bowmate is more rigid and the dawgware has an extra pocket.

The extra pocket interests me, as one of the main reasons I'm looking at these quivers is I like the idea of being able to stash my pull up rope, glove, folding saw, compass, flashlight, and arrows all in one place.

I do alot of treestand hunting, but am also hunting more and more from the ground.

What do you guys think?

The Bowmate is more ridged and provides the most protection of the 3. It doesn't conform to your back as well though. Holds fewer arrows than the others. well made and tough. I like the strap system. It is the heaviest of the 3.

The arrowmaster is also very well made and carries nicely. There isn't as much storage and the arrow opening took a little getting used to for me. Probably the most popular option and good looking.

The Dawgware is what I'm using now. I put an old arrow down the inside back to stiffen it a bit and used a safari tuff fletch cover for the top. Plenty of storage and light. Not as well made over all than the other 2.

They all worked fine that's just where I ended up.

How about storage? Would any of the three hold the following:

10" folding saw, shooting glove, small LED flashlight, pull- up rope, compass? Maybe a couple more odds and ends?

You should be able to get that in all three but the dawgware has by far the most storage. It is all I carry until I need more clothes. I even put my water bottle and camera in there.

Thanks. Does the lack of rigidity on the dawgware pose a real problem?

Also, I read some reviews that claimed the dawgware would buckle if both pockets were loaded. Any truth to this?

I bought the Bowmate for the extra protection, added length, and the fact that it is made to switch from LH to RH. I have attached another removable pouch to mine that works great but you could get all of the stuff you mentioned in the one pouch on the Bowmate. As mentioned, it is quite a bit heavier than the others but it is built like a tank.
Take care,
Jason

jkm97,
The pocket on the Arrowmaster measures 10" but since it is soft and flexible I'm sure it would accommodate the saw. As far as the other things, no problem.

Kyle,

I have the Arrowmaster and have used it now for about 3 seasons.

The pouch can hold the listed items and maybe a little more but will get full quick. Once loaded will tend to make the back of the quiver off balance if heavy items.

It is a good quiver and has served me well, my one complaint would be that the arrow opening allow for debris to collect when walking through brush.

The newer ones have an optional "cover" to prevent this and I would opt for it if buying again.
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.

I've only used the Arrowmaster out of the three.  Love it.  I've used mine in many different places and situations.

Denny Sturgis Jr. has probably used one as much as anybody, and on different continents.  He would be a good one to contact.

I'm going to vote for the arrowmaster because it does everything I would want this style of quiver to do. The pocket on the arrow master is pretty big and could probably hold everything you listed, depending on how big your saw is. Big Jim's has the best price on the arrowmaster way better than anywhere else I've found.

Thanks guys. Another member contacted me and offered me a great price on an Arrowmaster, so I'm gonna give it a shot.

My problem with the Arrowmaster was the location of the pocket.  Since it is at the top, it wants to flip over when loaded.  That annoyed the crap out of me.  I now have a Palmer, and although heavier, I like it much better.

I have owned all 3.  Currently the bowmate. I prefer the rigidity and strap adjustment.  When carrying my climbing stand I can strap it to the side without worrying about it bending or damaging my arrows.  Downside is it is long and sticks up over my shoulder and snags often.

If the bowmate was a tad shorter, had a wider inside diameter and extra pouch like the dawgware it would be perfect.

Arrowmast was my least favorite. Awkward hand and flimsier than dawgware.

Something worth noting is the Arrowmaster has had several changes made to it since it was first developed.  If you haven't used one of the newer versions, then you may be missing out on it.
